Mudroom Wallpaper

I think I have a mild addiction to peel and stick wallpaper. I have used it in multiple rooms in my house and I can’t get over how easy it is to use and how quickly it changes a space. Today was the mudroom’s turn to get wallpapered!

This is the room I change and struggle with the most. This poor room used to have an extremely narrow and deep closet that was nearly unusable. It got ripped out one day and we recessed our refrigerator into the mudroom to open up our kitchen on the other side of the wall. That left an area up high (which is above the refrigerator) for storage baskets.

It’s also been painted a new color at least once a year. I’ve reconfigured it three times since we moved in 4 years ago, and now I think I’ve finally found something I can live with for more than a few months!

Here is where it started this time:

The walls were painted with SW Retreat, which is one of my favorite deep, earthy greens. The coat rail that goes around the room was originally white, but it reminded me of a tube sock, so I painted that before I even took the picture. I wish I took one before I started doing anything. It’s really unfortunate, but it happens a lot!

On Amazon, there is a leafy pattern that had similar greens in it that were already on the walls. It’s called Livebor Olive Leaf Peel and Stick Wallpaper.

It only took me a few hours, and after following the directions I went all the way around the mudroom.

I am surprised at how much brighter it feels just adding wallpaper with a white background. I am really enjoying the way the wallpaper ties the green walls and the white trim together in the room. It feels a little “busy” so I am planning to add some other simplistic elements like art on the walls to give my eyes a place to rest.

Here is where I ended:

I think I may have lied at the beginning of this post. I said I could live with this for a few months, but now I’m finding myself wrestling with the shoe storage situation. The haphazardly put together cabinet in there was something I threw together to hide our shoe tornado. But, I have contemplated building an extra-wide bench to go along the far wall with shoe storage underneath. Hmm… what do you think?
